My grandfather Janis Grasis was born in 1875. I am unsure whether he was Russian of Latvian. He was a high ranking Military officer in possibly the 19th division. Was not in WW1, but just after. He married to ALISE BRUVERIS in Bauska Latvia in 1920. 3 children were born of this marriage, the youngest Julius, my father. 2nd marriage is unknown, but he moved to a farm and took his son with him. The woman had 2 sons of her own and they lived on a farm. Janis was a carpenter by trade and died around 1950.
I do not have a photo of him, this makes me so sad.
